Your observation reminds me of the term Christopher Hitchens, in his early writings came up for to distinguish the rigid, stifling, and often reactionary dogmas of organized Christianity-in all its forms, whether Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and now Evangelical- from the liberating and transformative actual teachings of Christ. To make an analogy with the differences between Marx's original ideas and the brutally life-hating perversion of those teachings known as "Marxism-Leninism", Hitchens used the term "Christism-Paulism" to described the organized, dogma-and-rule-obsessed Church in all its forms.
