You shouldn't ignore it- just accept its validity treat the day and the lived experience of those it belongs to with respect, and, as all of us who are white should do, avoid trying to make the day about yourself.

And having a contrary opinion is fine, but you need to recognize that endlessly demanding that people explain things you know perfectly well you already understand, insisting that people should have to prove to you that what they're saying isn't bullhorn, and talking down to everyone you disagree with or who simply makes you personally uncomfortable are not expressions of opinion- they arebsi
