You are a white man- as am I- who has never been DENIED opportunities, so who are you to dismiss what this writer is saying? What, exactly, are you afraid of? And if you don't think we're still a country where black people are put through shit for things white people would never be put through before, explain the reaction most white conservatives had to Simon Biles- who had a valid safety reason for withdrawing from subsequent events after literally becoming disoriented in mid-air and barely avoiding serious injury- when people who had never tried gymnastics or ANY Olympic sport were acting as though she was a coward for not risking broken bones, paralysis or possibly death?

If a white gymnast had had the same experience and withdrawn for the same reason, you'd all have taken her word that she had to make that choice.
