Yeah, killing people WILL tend to damage your reputation.

And quite frankly, it was amazing Spector got that far through his life without killing somebody- he was known for carrying a loaded gun while working in the studio, and he pulled that gun on John and Yoko- actually holding them hostage for a brief time- while working with them. I've heard he did that with other rock stars too.
