What Black people express, when they are accused of hatred, is anger at the actions of the white power structure, not a desire to do white people emotional and bodily harm. You never see mobs of Black people lynching white people. If this became- as it someday might- a majority Black nation, you would simply not see Black cops pulling over innocent white people on trivial pretexts like driving a car those Black cops thought white people could never have acquired without stealing, or driving that car through a well-off Black neighborhood those cops assumed those white drivers had no business passing through or just for having a busted tail light- and doing this just to look for some pretext to shoot that white driver in front of his wife or girlfriend and child- and could never, as those Black cops saw it, actually OWN a home in that neighborhood. You would never see Black cops drive up to a white child playing with a toy gun and gun that child down on sight without asking the child any questions- you would also never see, in that Black majority country, Black people calling the cops on a white person just because that person was swimming in their gated community’s pool and those Black people simply couldn’t accept that that white person might actually live in that community, OR call the security at their apartment building simply because that white person was waiting in the lobby for a friend, OR make a scene about a white person sleeping in the lounge at the door both that Black person and the white person lived with- and you DAMN sure would never see a Black housewife badger a white child for selling bottled water in front of the child’s own house, across the street from a ballpark where a baseball game was going on that day.
Those are things white people like us do and Black people, flawed and fallible as their as our fellow human beings, would simply never do- because, unlike us, Black people accept that other people have as much right to be in this country, or in their state, or on their street as anybody else, and they don’t assume, unlike us, that nobody who is different than them can ever be trusted not to be a lazy, substance-abusing homicidal maniac.
It’s US that does not-not Black or Brown people. And WE are the ones who need to STOP doing that and stop being like that.
Is that really asking too much?
