We all get it that everybody wants this to end. There’s nobody in the country who DOESN’T want this to end. But it can’t end until the leaders of this country admit that fighting the pandemic is THEIR responsibility and that they have an obligation to take it seriously and to put vaccine research, testing and universal PPE availability first.

If nothing else, Trump has an obligation-and his own supporters should be demanding that he meet this obligation, because he has no excuse not to meet it and his refusal to meet it puts his own supporters as much risk as anybody else-to, AT THE VERY LEAST, stop contradicting what Dr. Fauci and the scientists say and stop putting bogus ideas out there like hydroxychloroquine or the ingestion of cleaning fluids as antidotes or cures. It’s not asking too much to ask the Highest Reality Show Host In The Land to at least follow the part of the Hippocratic Oath that says “first, do no harm”.

Also, if we’re going to fix the economy after this, we’re going to need New Deal 2.0 at the least-nothing in this situation can be remedied with “market values”, the suspension of environmental regulations, or tax cuts for the rich.
