Uh...it was the white-controlled Mississippi education system that taught those kids that blacks "took over the south and then screwed up". The person Couric interviewed was working to challenge that lie. Black people never "took over the South"-some were elected as parts of black-white coalitions in various states, and their record of governance was progressive and competent. None of the governments overthrown by white terrorism deserved to be overthrown and Reconstruction was no more an injustice than the post-World War II joint occupation of Germany.
