This brings up a couple of questions:
1) Could we take the song "Jackie Brown" as kind of at least an inadvertent sequel to "Jack and Diane"? It seems like it tells us what happened to Jack later in life,, and what happened was bleak (probably suicide). I just had that flash while reading the article.
2) Could the biracial couple who are seen slow-dancing in the video foe Mellencamp's song "Cherry Bomb" possibly be a reference to Mellencamp's original intentions for "Jack and Diane"?
