There has never been any chance that Israel was going to create a better Palestinian leadership by focusing on the pointless and unachievable objective of trying to defeat Fatah or Hamas militarily- all that was ever going to achieve was creating a more extreme post-Hamas, post-Fatah leadership focused on avenging the shame. It's time to admit a focus on winning on the battlefield while seeking to get the other "side" to admit that the whole conflict was their fault and they had no motivation other than bigotry is never going to achieve anything positive.

Why insist that everyone give all-out backing to an exercise in futility?
