The real point is, focusing on demanding that the Palestinians change their leadership and, apparently, admit that every act of resistance they carried out is illegitimate and that they should never have resisted at all, which I think is your argument, is a pointless waste of time.

What happened on October 7th was horrible. But it's not what started the whole conflict- the insistence on the rigidly exclusionist form of Zionism, as opposed to any effort to find an egalitarian democratic version that would give the majority community in Israel the safety and security they wanted without perpetually treating Palestinians, in effect, as outsiders and inferiors who must always be treated as barbarians.

It was never going to be tenable to try and force Palestinians to accept all of that premise.
