The Israeli government-please don't use the word "Israel" as a synonym for that country's government btw, you can't assume all Israelis unquestioningly support what it does to Palestinians- is trying to prevent a Palestinian state from ever being born, and at the same time trying to prevent Palestinians from ever having political equality within Israel as a country- leaving ordinary Palestinians with choice but permanent stateless powerlessness at home or a lifetime in exile.

The insulting, humiliating "autonomy" proposal the Israeli Right keeps offering is no change from the Occupation status quo at all- so it is trying to both prevent a country from being born AND wipe a people off of the lands where that people has always lived. None of what the Israeli government is doing in this regard is ever going to get rid of groups like Hamas and none of it gives the ordinary people of Palestine any reason to even try cooperating with that government. It is unsustainable and dangerous for both national communities. it cannot do anything but perpetuate the fighting- so why accuse anyone of bigotry for opposing it?
