The equilibrium is in saying that people are different races, different colors, different cultures, different faiths-including faith in the the guidance of their own conscience- different political views and support of different economic systems- but that there are no differences in worth or value between any of those and no reason to insist that the only relationship that can exist between any two different groups is dominant/submissive or superior/inferior.

Just accept that we are ALL American, that everything every one of us is or believes in is just as American anything else, and that we all have just as much right to be where we are and just as much right to share in the good things of life as anyone else who is here.

What defines us as Americans- the one thing that IS "exceptional"- is the right to be different, the right NOT to conform, the right NOT to lose any part of yourself as the part of being born here OR coming here from some other place.

Is that not more than enough?
