So...to John Hudlow, being "American" means being right-wing, "American identity" means the assumption that "white" ways of living and thinking are inherently superior to all others, that "American culture" means white European culture-even though those who led our original, flawed revolution based their notion of what the country would be on the idea of divergence from European norms, and that it is a threat to the survival of the country to have this become a place where everyone feels welcome, safe from oppression and intimidation, and culturally valid.

The obvious question is, why does he assume that change has to undermine this country, why does he fear transformation when what happened in 1776 was a validation of the idea that transformation is legitimate, why does he seemingly think there are no possibilities in life other than Trumpism or the Gulag.
