Small mitigating factors: The Beatles always credited the Black musicians who influenced them- Paul McCartney said he learned how to do screaming vocals foe Little Richard: they played covers of Black rock 'n roll classics on their early albums, with the original writers and singers given credit; they championed Jimi Hendrix at the peak of their careers. Paul wrote "Let It Be" to offer to Aretha Franklin to sing- she turned it down first, then I think covered it later. John Lennon sang duets with Chuck Berry when he guest-hosted the Mike Douglas Show on national US TV in the Seventies.

As far as I know, The Beatles never claimed to have invented rock and roll or not to owe anything to Black music.

And yes, there has always been a lot of racism in rock and it needs to be called out.

But what would you say The Beatles themselves should have done differently, and what would you have Paul and Ringo, and the families of John and George, do to address the wrongs to Black music and Black artists, verses what their early record label's did in their names? Do you make a distinction at all between their actions, on the one hand, and those of Capitol/Parlophone records on the other?

I hope these questions come across as a request for dialog as opposed to sounding argumentative. I always respect what you have to say in your essays.
