One thing that would make a major positive difference in how the election played out would be the thing both the Democrats and the Green camps refused to accept when grassroots activists from both parties proposed it in 2000: vote-swapping agreements.
Under agreements such as that, Green voters in swing states would agree to vote Democratic, in exchange for an agreement that a chunk of Democratic voters in safe "red" or safe "blue" states would vote Green. This option, if the agreements were kept, would make it much more likely that the Democratic ticket would carry the swing states and thus save us from Trump, while keeping the space for political alternatives alive and making it possible to get to a healthier and more constructive relationship between Democrats and people currently to the left of the Democratic ticket.
