Obviously, the hostages are of paramount importance to ordinary Israeli civilians- they are as little to blame for Netanyahu's actions as ordinary Gazans are for October 7th- and there have been, I understand, numerous protests in Israel demanding that Netanyahu put getting the hostages home safe FIRST. Nothing I posted there was meant to imply that ordinary Israelis don't care about the hostages- my point is that they do, but Netanyahu doesn't. At this point, I don't think Netanyahu cares about ISRAEL. More and more people, outside and inside Israel, are now convinced that he's only keeping the war going to stay in power and out of prison.
And I have, for the record, repeatedly stated in my Medium posts that Hamas should never have carried out the acts it committed on October 7th. I'm one of the majority of the human race who rejects the idea that the only positions a person can take in this conflict are "standing with Israel(which in this case means standing with Netanyahu)" or "Standing with Hamas". Most of us just "stand against anybody else getting killed".
