No one can decently be punished for what they did in a struggle for justice. And there's no decent, progressive, humane way to ever defend anything the Israeli government does to ordinary Palestinians again. None of it is "self-defense", and none of it is or was the only possible course of action.

Seeking "victory" in the military sense in the Israel/Palestine is an outdated, reactionary, arrogant and doomed strategy. The only way forward is getting both sides to compromise, and that can only be achieved if neither side is humiliated by being forced to play the role of the vanquished side.
