"leftist ideology" and Christian teachings are not inherently in disagreement. The Sermon on the Mount and the Parables have many phrases within them that are convergent with socialism.

There are few, if any, by contrast, that are convergent with the belief that Christians are obligated to defend the status quo, or that "basic human truths" are inherently conservative- in many cases right-wing ideology is in contradiction of basic truths, such as the basic human truths that human beings are equal.
