I've quoted this lyric here before, but it fits to quote it here again, in these times:

The ultimately authoritarian implications of "respectable, centrist 'liberalism'" are best described in the last verse of the Phil Ochs song "Love Me, I'm a Liberal"

Oh, sure, once,

I was young and impulsive-

I wore every conceivable pin.

Even went to socialist meetings-

Learned all the old union hymns.

Ah but I've grown older and wiser-

AND THAT'S WHY I'M turning you in!

I'm a liberal!
