It's not as simple as "wanting to reopen".
And the people questioning the push to reopen care just as much about the people who are out of work as you do.
In some cases, the push to reopen is from large corporations wanting to get out of a requirement to pay unemployment to those who don't feel safe coming into work while the pandemic is still out of control, who want to force those people to choose between putting themselves in danger-as that jerk in Texas who has banned masks for anybody inside his bar is doing-or being without income.
It's the wealthy pushing the "reopen immediately" thing, not ordinary working folks. The polls show the vast majority of people support the safety measures currently in place.
We need to pass a guaranteed income that goes on at least through the time when the major danger of infection has passed.
