It would be useful to know WHY the husband had been out of work unexpectedly and why they had to pay "a lot of money" to get him back to work? Had he been briefly suspended without pay from working in his field for some reason? Had he allowed some sort of professional license or certificate he was required to have to work in his field to lapse?
