It makes perfect sense that Rotten would feel an affinity for Trump- like Trump, he sees himself as an epic genius/leader who has been unjustly denied his due- I think that's what he meant when he ended the last Sex Pistols concert in San Francisco by shouting "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated"?
