If you extended "Orleans" up the Mississippi and added the Black-majority counties of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and The Carolinas, you'd more or less end up with the "Republic of New Afrika" U.S. Black militants proposed in the late 1960s- a proposal that will probably be gaining more and more traction within that community if the vote suppression laws recently passed in most state legislatures are not nullified by the passage of new federal voting rights legislation.
