If we lived in a country where white people were assumed by black peole to be planning to rob people in black neighborhoods simply because they were driving through them-which would be a fair charge in some places, because gentrification is the theft of black and brown neighborhoods by rich white people-were regularly shot by black cops during traffic stops for such heinous offenses as having a broken tail light-or where black people called the cops on white people just for going to the neighborhood swimming pool in a black neighborhood, barbecuing in a public park, having a high school graduation party, or falling asleep in a lounge area in a dorm at a predominately black college, then you would have a point. Nothing remotely like that is ever done to white people by black and brown people, and the extreme paranoia white people feel about their physical safety in the presence of black and brown people is totally unjustified. We’ve harmed THEM-they haven’t done a damn thing to us.
