If I'd ever defended what Hamas did on October 7th, you'd have a point there. What happened that day was indefensible.

However, it was not a more important occurrence than any other event in the history of this conflict, it was not the start of this conflict- decades of barbaric treatment of ordinary Palestinians by the Israeli government were, and are- and it doesn't justify endless killing of ordinary innocent Gaza civilians.

There's nothing the IDF can do to either "crush Hamas" OR free the hostages. Only a permanent ceasefire can do either- and nothing that happened on October 7th justifies perpetual collective punishment of ordinary Gaza civilians.

It's gone far enough and the only way to end this conflict is to accept that the creation of a Palestinian state is inevitable and unchallengably necessary.
