I respect you as an elder, but your response to this suggests that you didn’t read the article at all.

It is confusing that you both assert the “superiority” of Dutch Reformed people-and feel entitled to simply assume that such people work harder than everyone else-and seem to feel that the Dutch Reformed community the author writes about is both under threat of cultural extinction and the victim of the piece.

It appears that empathy towards anyone not of your identity is not within your capacity. This is sad, because the Christian message was supposed to be more about empathy and acceptance of all than about anything else, and especially more than insisting on asserting your own culture’s inherent superiority.
