I didn't just mean indigenous people, and obviously scientists have a role to play...but there needs to be an interaction between the experts and the many, there needs to be a willingness to be open to methods combining traditional and technocratic methods, and decision-making process that give the many a say while listening to what they have TO say.

It can't just be left to "the grown-ups"- "the grown-ups aren't dealing with the problem.
