Good for you. And let it be said: it IS a form of oppression for straight white males, in positions of power, and those who enforce their dominance, to be obsessed with controlling everyone else’s personal appearance. So long as everyone follows basic personal hygiene standards and wears clean clothes, it shouldn’t be the business of anyone else what length or texture their hair is, what ornamentation is in the hair, or whether or not the clothing people wears has a specific ethnic or cultural character to it. What should matter, and the only thing that should matter, is that we all put the best possible effort into doing whatever it is we devote our life TO doing, and being our best possible self while doing that.
