From what I've read, even if he HAD been shouting as he rode, Paul Revere would never have shouted "The British Are Coming!" because, well, at that point, everybody in Boston(other than a handful of arrivals from other places like Revere’s French-born Huguenot father), and, of course any of the remaining indigenous population of the area) still self-identified AS "British".

IOTW, shouting "The British Are Coming" is the stupidest, most pointless thing Revere could possibly have shouted, had he felt the need to shout anything that day.
