For a good example of "Gorgio"(non-Romani) people engaging with Romani and the way Gorgio culture has treated them, I'd recommend the "The Travelling People" by Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger. Here are two songs from it...the first about the way Gorgio communities in Britain harassed Travellers(a British term for the Romani) and hounded them from town to town: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLnvwPk7-u0&t=9s
The second being a lament for the possible passing of Romani/Traveller culture in the UK at the time this "Radio Ballad" was created in the mid-sixties: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpsnoCd6QTo&t=6s
