BTW, as most of my fellow whites don't know, Dr. King had armed security teams protecting his marchers in most places- The Rev. Frederick Douglass Kirkpatrick, who was also a noted topical singer of Dr. King's era, founded a self-defense group, Deacons for Defense and Justice, which had chapters in many cities in the South and carried out a self-defense role for the movement.
