As to George H.W. Bush...given that the fall of the Soviet Union- which was probably not something that needed to happen once Mikhail Gorbachev, a democratizing reformer who ended all repression within the USSR- led to the rise of Vladimir Putin, can we still, with any degree of honesty, call it an "achievement"? Wouldn't the situation in Europe, and especially un Ukraine and internally in Russia, be far more benign and far less dangerous if the USSR hadn't been forced to dissolve and post-Soviet Russia hadn't been humiliated and forced to play the role of "the vanquished nation", as the US arrogantly called itself "the world's only remaining superpower" over and over again?
