As to China...I'd also heard that, when they started selling Pepsi in China, they wanted to simply translate their U.S. slogan at the time, "Come to Life with Pepsi" into Mandarin. The supposed problem with that what the closest they could get to that was "Pepsi Brings Your Ancestors Back To Life".
