Ms. Franklin, as a white person. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my embarrassment and disgust at the condescending, dismissive, nasty and absurd responses(blaming black family structure again? As if that's either the main issue or an issue the black community could solve on its own but has somehow spent the last six decades refusing to try and solve? REALLY?) given by most of the white respondents here. Those responses are callous, tone deaf, and disgraceful, and the fact that so many white respondents insist on repeating them, knowing they've all been discredited for years, is a sign of a deep crisis in the white community, and, by implication, in the values and structure of too many white families. Your article deserved far more comprehension and respectful consideration most people of my complexion gave it here.
