Adam Schiff bears a MAJOR responsibility for Democratic losses in the House and Senate

A lot of people in the Democratic Party see Adam Schiff as a Lincolnesque figure, due to his role in the Trump impeachments.

With his conduct in this election year, Schiff has badly tarnished his reputation, however.

In truth, Schiff did serious, possibly fatal damage to his party’s chances of holding it’s Senate majority.

In his own race in California, a state with a “top-two” primary in which it’s possible to have two Democratic or two Republican candidates- or a major party candidate vs an independent- on the fall ballot, Schiff- who was always the favorite to come out ahead of all other candidates in the primary- spent the last two months working, by various means, to make sure that former Dodgers and Padres first baseman Steve Garvey- a more moderate Republican than Trump, but also a sure loser in the fall- finished second, rather than making sure the seat was an easy hold for the Democrats by not interfering with Katie Porter or- though she was a more longshot candidate- Barbara Lee being the second place candidate.

Having worked to create at least the theoretical possibility of a Republican victory in the fall, though only a theoretical possibility- Schiff then spent the fall incessantly begging rank-and-file Democrats for donations- donations he didn’t need because there was never any real chance Garvey could have defeated him.
