Accepting that Israel has "the right to defend itself" does NOT mean that no one has any right to question anything the IDF does to ordinary Palestinians, so long as what is done is labeled "self-defense. The massive bombing of Gaza can't ALL be described as "seld-defense", nor can it ever be described as self defense for the IDF to facilitate the continual expansion of the illegal West Bank settlements and the continual collective harassment of ordinary Palestinians. There IS a limit, and trying to make the creation of a viable Palestinian state permanently impossible, and therefore making peace permanently impossible, can NEVER be called "self-defense".

It is impossible to end this conflict by trying to make the Palestinian leadership sign what would essentially be an unconditional surrender treaty on the equivalent of the deck of the USS Missouri. "Peace through humiliation is not possible, and in any case the Palestiniansare neither Imperial Japan not Nazi Germany.
